Goals for 2019
Here I am coming attcha on a WEDNESDAY! I know, I know, I’m breaking my routine a little bit. I think that if I want consistency in actually posting a post, I have to be a little more flexible with the timing. So it’s the SECOND DAY in J A N U A R Y! I can’t believe that 2019 is upon us already. I’m probably a little late with letting you know the goals I want to hit this year, but if you follow me on twitter you already know I have some plans! So here we go:

Writing Goals –
So I’ve mentioned in my previous New Years Resolution post that 2019 is going to be the year of the short story for me. I think that with my mindset of wanting to make writing my full time job, I have to change the writing behaviors that I’ve developed. So what behaviors am I changing? Pretty much all of them. I don’t write every single day and I think that is a huge problem in my life. I’m not seeing the consistency therefore I’m not seeing any results.
If you didn’t read the previous post, I want to write one short story every single month. So by the time 2020 rolls around I should have 12 short stories ready to go. This may not seem like a huge resolution, but I have only been writing maybe one day out of the seven days a week. So here is my writing goals =
- 1 Short story every month
- Finish novella series – some of the short stories may be extended.
- Weekly content creation for blog
- Romantic comedy screenplay first draft complete
- Outline first novel
- Two children’s books completed
I know that this is actually a lot of work that I have mapped out for myself. But I think that if you don’t have lofty ambitions, then you tend to rest on your laurels. No laurel resting in 2019.
TBR Pile Goals –
So if you follow me on Goodreads you’ll see that my “want to read” has increased immensely in the last few weeks. I have found the writing community on twitter and want to support as many writers like myself as possible. I’ve also started pinning a lot more book lists on my pinterest so this has probably added more fuel to that fire as well. Chris got me a ton of books for Christmas, we had a little shopping spree, and so those are first on my list.
This is just a small portion of what I intend on reading this year, but I thought it would be beneficial to start a list. Honestly most of the books on my shelves are ‘to be read’ so I have a lot of work to do. Which is a great segue way into the next topic.
Business Goals –
So how does one topic relate to the other? Well I plan on doing a lot more book reviews/ book topics/ overall book content delivered to your faces. When I was in college I was trying to figure out what I wanted to do forever. I was in the apparel design major but I wasn’t in love with the classes I was taking or the subject matter. I kept asking myself what it is that I love to do. That would be read. Not even just write, even though that passion has sure grown. No I just wanted to read.
So I don’t want to commit to the book blogging niche, mostly cause I still want to be able to provide motivation and inspiration. But I think that this is the direction I want my blog to go in. And 2019 is the year of turning blogging into a business. Over the next few weeks I will be creating a business plan in order to develop a good backbone for it.
Other business goals are a little harder for me to talk about. There’s a part of me that thinks if I talk about something I want that it’ll jinx it. The other part of me is “Speak it into existence girl!” Let me those plans a little bit more but I can give you some hints. Has a lot to do with products and designs. SHHH.
Personal Goals –
So besides business growth I’m also trying to work on myself. I’m planning on focusing on my health as well as actively being a participant in my life. What do I mean by that? I want to religiously take my vitamins, ensure I’m getting more sun and really up my yoga skills. I also want to make sure I’m seeing my family and friends more than focusing on work. The last three years I have really put work first and need to make sure that I make time for those around me.
